The new job...

What's the weather like in Indiana these days? Well, from my basement office, I can't tell you all that well, at least not with out some technological assistance. After all, my basement office is in OIT (Office of Information Technology) and my job title is "Instructional Technologist" so you'd better believe I'm going to use the tools of our trade to stay current on the "above world" happenings.

On my first day here at ND just about 2 weeks ago, my boss sent me an email. The message said "In case you need to see the weather before leaving the building." And in the message was a link to the webcams on campus.

Yes, I look at the weather above ground on my computer so I know whether I need to dig out my hat, scarf, and gloves to go along with my puffy coat. And I check the temperatures online or by using the "weather widgets" that my "mac" conveniently hovers on my desktop.

You can check the webcams out for yourself right here:

While you're at it, feel free to also look a the rather stunning photos of the campus right here:

These are especially helpful for those folks coming to visit us in January and February. We don't always reside in an ice box. It's true.

The first few weeks of work have been pretty good. People have been very welcoming and my new computer is incredibly cool. Pretty soon I'll enter a level of geekdom that I never thought possible. I will actually have 2, yes, TWO computer monitors on my desk. One for PC viewing and one for Mac viewing.

I'm settling in nicely and this Friday my new coworker will start as well. We've only spoken over the phone, but I see a bright future ahead!
