At last, the Lincolns have a real phone that is attached to the wall. There is a wire from the AT&T building that runs to a pole and this wire runs from the pole into our house and down the walls where it connects with a phone jack. We have a phone that plugs into the jack.....and it even has a DIAL TONE. Unreal. We've begun to cross the "digital divide" after a very long 6+ weeks.

I know you're dying for the story, but not QUITE the full story. But I'm way too tired by the story and actually living its events to retell it.
Here's what you need to know...our cell phones were not working at home.

The phones weren't working on neighborhood streets. They weren't working anywhere, especially on cold rainy nights when people were wanting to talk to us. We're popular you know. See...this is our first message!

The next thing you need to know is that trying to save money can cause real headaches. Getting a phone for our apartment at a decent price took more than 6 weeks. And now? Well, now we're asserting ourselves trying to reclaim the $65.00 "set up" fee for a service which we had to fight for in the beginning. See the paperwork trail I've begun in order to get back that cash!

I do love a good fight with a big corporation though, so I tend to smile, pretend I'm a lawyer, roll up my sleeves and shout "bring it on!!"
