Celebrate good times CoME ON!

On Monday night I sent in my FINAL final project. The project to end my HGSE student career. It wasn't a moment of great fanfare, but it did feel good. And anytime I finish a school term means it is time to celebrate. And celebrate we did.

Our favorite end-of-term celebration usually takes the form of dessert, specifically ice cream. On warm spring nights, the best ice cream is found at Christina's in Inman Square. It is some of the best ice cream I have ever had. If you go to Ben and Jerry's you'll get ice cream with a lot of good chunky stuff in it, which I like a lot. All of America seems to like it a lot.

But the oh-so special thing about ice cream (and sorbet) at Christina's is the intensity of the ice cream flavor. One time I got Pear sorbet and it tasted exactly like a fresh ripe pear. I don't know how they do it - but the flavors are intense, pure, and delicious.

So we went to Christina's last night and for once, I went all out. I got 2 scoops of real ice cream in a waffle cone. Yep, I splurged an extra 50 cents for a waffle cone. Normally I stick to fro-yo or sorbet but this was a celebration...and it was worth it.

This photo of me waiting to order doesn't accurately capture the long and persistent line that is always found at Christina's. We got there in the nick of time before the line got too long.

The special treat. Chocolate Mint Chip and Coffee Oreo. Oh yes and it was all mine.
Ethereal sounds and wavy lines moved through the air as I gobbled on my giant cone.

And then the words rang out..."I don't think I feel so good."
When you spend your time eating frozen yogurt or sorbet, the real stuff can make you feel a little woozy. But in the moment of celebration, you must press on. So press on, I did.

Yes, that is potentially a look of nauseated regret...but I am not one to pooh-pooh a celebration. It is my duty to carry on the party.
Pressing on...for the sake of the celebration. MY celebration. Sure it was my ice cream party and I could cry if I wanted to...cry if I wanted to. But....
Things were starting to look up. The wooziness was wearing off...and sugar kicking in. Just like mile 25 of a marathon....the finish was in sight.
That's right this is a PARTY people! Let's see some smiles and hear some laughter. Anybody ready for another cone?
