Land of the Living

We have just gotten a new laptop - which is a wonderful blessing to us both!
(Thank you E& R!!)

Having each had separate laptops that slowly slipped into comas over the last 2 years we have relied heavily on other options to get our computing done.

At last we have a new sleek diva of a laptop. The macbook. The best part about buying a macbook when you're affiliated with a university or school is that you get a slightly better price and this time around, we also got a rebate toward an ipod! So now we have officially entered (after many years) the territory of savvy computer users.
We are now, among the land of the living.

Yes, you can probably expect to start seeing videos we've made (the macbook has a built in camera on it) and perhaps some podcasts here and there. I've had the hardware needed (which is not much) to make a podcast but not the software and I hate to fiddle with the free stuff you can dig up online. Blog readers beware....we may soon be in full motion and sound. A scary prospect for those of you who just like the safety of the printed word.

And for those of you who use skype to talk for free - we will be back in action on skype soon, again, with video instead of that cute picture of me with a green umbrella. Well, at least I thought it was cute.

I am not sure how quickly I will adapt to the mac, I know it is supposed to be simpler to use and all creativity and information is now supposed to flow at the speed of light because we have a mac.

BUT....I am awfully attached to my keyboard shortcuts that make my work so much faster. Alt + F4 to close windows, Alt + Tab to scroll through windows I have open. Ctrl V or F or A or C.....will I find their twins on the mac? Or I will be slow again and relying on a stupid file menu.

But never mind that now my friends. We have a video to make...perhaps you'd like to see me quilting or the banks of the Charles river. Perhaps a cooking lesson and recipe for a delicious fennel salad? The possibilities, well, they may just be endless. We'll do our best to keep you entertained.
