3 bottles and herd of rabbits

I realized the other day that we had not posted for quite a long time. There was one post waiting in the wings for a few weeks that seemed too boring to post. But I put it up anyway this week.

And then I promptly followed that with another post about how I miss the bicycle gang of Cambridge. Again, nothing too interesting but at least I'd posted some filler until I could adequately show off the way in which time had been spent since December.

Much of the time I have been sick. So a lot of time and money has been spent acquiring medicines to either rid me of bacteria, mucus, or coughs. I even got the prescribed inhaler from my physician for the ridiculous rate of $100 - ridiculous mostly because it didn't do a blasted thing to tame my coughs but rather induced them further.

Never in my lifetime have I consumed a entire bottle of "nyquil" medicine within one week. Until December 2007. (You may recall those other posts about my celebrity mug shot...that's when I was guzzling the first bottle of "nyquil") After consuming the entire bottle, I finally went to the doctor and got antibiotics which eventually did the trick.

Welcome to my drug counter....this is the medicine I purchased in November. It's called "maximum strength" but I think it must mean maximum strength if you are Thumbelina or somebody really small. It didn't do a darn bit of good for me.
I also have taken, with some reservations, a dayquil-esque medicine. I would have to say that it is truly non-drowsy, but also non-effective. And yet, 1/2 the bottle is gone. I like to think of myself as an optimist and endlessly hopeful. Hopeful that this daytime drug will truly squelch my coughs and dry up my nose. Can I switch to realist?
Near the top of my list is the 2nd bottle of nyquil-type liquid which I have almost completely devoured within 2 months time. It would probably be gone already (yes, I have been routinely sick for nearly 6 of the last 8 weeks.....with 3 separate visit to medical professionals) but it tastes so disgusting I can hardly bring myself to slurp it down each night.
And lastly, and certainly most importantly, the dynamic duo suggested on the last trip to the doctor. Tussionex (complete with narcotics!) and a 12-hour nasal spray that is so powerful you can only use it for 3 days.
These are my two favorite meds thus far. Apparently I like my cold remedies just like my adult beverages. I'm not as interested in "a shot" of any single drug as I am in a cocktail of drugs. Shaken, not stirred please.

In those 2 weeks that I haven't been sick, I have been really productive in the sewing/craft area. VERY productive. I have been making (with assistance by Ryan on the finishing touches) the most wonderful stuffed toys.
Yes...stuffed toys. Rabbits, in fact because every child needs somebunny to love them. If you are expecting a child soon - you can expect that one of these will arrive as well. Here was the test rabbit:
And here are some of its new friends:
The first rabbit recipient was this little guy who flew out from Boston with his parents to spend the weekend with us.
He seemed to like the rabbit well enough to suck on its ears and was less suspicious of the rabbit than he was of Ryan. Eventually both of his new friends seem to win him over.

Sadly, we failed to take a picture of our visitor with his new bunny sidekick. If nothing else it gives me reason to nudge Ryan about sewing on the rest of the rabbit faces so you can see the newest facial designs. (no more beads - only stitches) I'm sure you're just bursting at the seams.

Cheerio and stay warm wherever you are.
PS - as I am finally getting well, Ryan has detected a slightly stuffy nose. At least we have all the meds on hand. =)

*For those of you wondering why this post's title says "herd of rabbits" it is because that is what a group of rabbits is called according to www.rabbit.org I thought at first they would be called a "warren" but that's where herds of rabbits live.

Man, the sickness sucks. I have to recommend something that really helps with coughs and sore throats and general malaise: a nice hot toddy. Mix hot water with lemon juice, honey and whiskey (or something similarly strong). During the day, feel free to leave the whiskey out (or not!).

My dad gave this to me as a child (I think the statute of limitations is past on giving alcohol to a minor), ok for all you cringing people, as a young adult, and it did wonders. I had chronic bronchitis all the time and it was better than any drugs, sprays, inhalers (although those work great for me) and elixirs.

Anyway, try that out and drink as much of it as you can. I honestly just doctor it up at night so I can sleep better and drink as many virgin mugs during the day as possible.

Glad you're starting to feel better!
