It's time to travel.....

I have a post in the "drafts" folder which follows up on the previous post in which only one person participated in my contest. The contest is now over and you dear reader, will be very sad when you see the prize awarded. Go get your tissue ready to dab your teary eyes.

Until you get to see the prize and I get to rib you more about not participating in the contest...feast your mind on this idea.....South Africa! Yes indeed, Ryan and I are leaving in less than a month for the great continent of Africa. WAHooo! We'll make the most of our pesky layovers in London (we're pumped about saying hello to Aguirre's and Konstantinos for a few hours) and then Frankfurt (drinking some beer and eating sausage) and finally on to Johannesburg. 32 hours after initial take off, we'll be greeted by dear friends in the bustling and historical city of Jo'burg!

Just over 6-7 months ago our friends Paul and JoAnna moved to Lesotho (Leh-soo-too) where they occupy important medical and governmental posts. Here is JoAnna's medical clinic:

And here is a view of their very nice apartment:

For those of you that don't know, Lesotho is landlocked by South Africa and has altitudes ranging from 4500 to 10500 feet! I feel dizzy just thinking about it.

Here are some links:

Bed and breakfast we'll stay at in Johannesburg - nice and clean.

Map of South Africa and Lesotho - Notice how Lesotho is landlocked in South Africa

A series of picture "galleries" of different areas and events in Lesotho

One of the great things about this trip is that we're connecting with all sorts of people we haven't spoken to in a long time. For example, Ryan has reconnected with Dr. Wells (a favorite professor) who spent some time in South Africa. I have reconnected with my high school choir director who lived in South Africa for a bit and was there even during the apartheid. And while this is great - we've got other connections coming out of the woodwork - another doctor to visit in Lesotho and possibly a missionary in Johannesburg. We've gotten great advice and are now aware that our big disappointment will be having to choose between all of the options before us.

Want a post card? Please post a comment w/your address and we'll send it!
