Passive Resistance

I have been staging my own personal passive resistance this past week. It seems to be the only way I can get my enemy to lower the cannons. Well, passive resistance and antibiotics are the true power behind me.

I'm slowly returning to health, in spite of my premature blog post where I divulged the similarities of my appearance this past week to Nick Nolte's mug shot and suggested I was suddenly on the mend.

My own passive resistance continues to be dozing in bed, getting up for water, Gatorade, or juice, and of course to tune in to MTV or Vh1. Fortunately I realized last night that we have the Food Channel and was able to see Paula Dean share her personality in full color on her Christmas Special. I think it was the first time I've seen her on TV and actually liked her. Maybe it was my mellow mental state. I have also learned about the national gingerbread house competition in Asheville, the enormous gingerbread house that Disney World constructs each year, as well as the way candy canes are made.

My passive resistance continues until we fly to California on Wednesday. And, if all goes well, I will truly be on the mend. Otherwise, it looks like pneumonia for me, and that isn't the Christmas gift I was hoping for.

Fear not....passive resistance has worked before and in my case, I hope it will work again.

PS. After a more careful review of the many celebrity mugshots on www.thesmokinggun.com I think I may have some of James Brown's attributes as well. Sigh. I wish I looked more like Janis Joplin's mugshot, but we can't all be political rockstar hippies.

Ryan and Liz:

Sorry to hear about your being sick. This is a bit odd way to contact you, but it's the best I can manage. We're back in the States right now for Christmas and addressing our Christmas letters -- can we get your current/future address? You can email it to me at caa36 at cam.ac.uk.

Thanks,

Charles (and Erin)
