4.2 ... " a really good jolt"

Perhaps our initiation is complete! We just experienced our first earthquake (4.2 on the scale about 14 miles north east of Oakland) which was very brief - it was over before Ryan could finish saying "Is that an earthquake?"

We still ran and got under the kitchen table but there was no point to that. Not to mention the table probably couldn't have withstood much weight had anything fallen on top of it...AND our rear ends were sticking out! Nothing else happened and the extent of the shaking was mild enough and short enough that nothing wobbled on the shelves.

As for the "really good jolt" that is the recurring line from the newscaster, Dan, who can't seem to come up with any other descriptors.

Ryan has decided that we will now wear our bike helmets at all times. Great.
